Garmin Express with Edge 20

Just downloaded Garmin Express for AppleMac.
Why can't Garmin Express be anonymous and simple?

Connected my Garmin Edge 20, but I can't go any further with the connection unless I register with Garmin Connect.
I do not want Garmin Connect.
I have no use for it at all.

If I connect my Garmin Montana, I don't need to give an email address, and I can see it there's software updates and I can go straight through to the Tools section and see all about my device. With a Montana, it IS anonymous and simple.

Why can't I do that with my Edge 20? Why am I FORCED to join Garmin Connect with my Edge 20 ............ but not my Montana?

Thanks,
Mick.

Does WebUpdater not work with the Edge 20? It so, that's a mistake that needs to be corrected.
    Yes, it works fine.
    No issues at all.
It's just that the instructions for the Edge 20 don't mention WebUpdater at all.

Garmin Express is better and more swept up ................ if your device allows it to work WITHOUT having a Garmin Connect account. Works beautifully with my Montana. Not tried it with Edge 20 because I don't want a Garmin Connect account.

Yes, the instructions are lacking somewhat.
Because I've used Garmins for some years, I knew all about WebUpdater, so the first thing I did when I took my 20 out of the box, was to connect up and get the latest software. It was only later that I had a look at Garmin Express.

Garmin Express .......... from what I've seen of it with my Garmin Montana ............ is better than WebUpdater, so if they could allow ALL Garmin users to use it (without being forced to join Garmin Connect), they could do away with WebUpdater. No point having two programs when one will do it better.

I emailed the good folk at Garmin HQ as requested by Lisa.
I've had a Thank You reply, but nothing more as yet.
