Frozen map update on new SD card

Hi all,

I bought a new 32Gb micro SD card for my edge touring as there was not enough space on the original 8Gb card to do a map update. I have now started the map update on garmin express (for Mac) and there is a tick under Preparing and it says "Updating Maps", but it has been doing so for 90 mins and there is no change in the progress bar. I don't want to force quit in case it causes a problem, but any advice on how long I should wait?

I'm sorry I don't know which map is updating - I only have what was loaded on the device when I purchased it (I think it includes Garmin Cycle Maps of Europe?) - does that help?

Just went on garmin online and my edge touring came with this installed: "Garmin Geocode Map EU Quarterly,2015.30 Sept 15". The SD card however was blank when I started the update.

I'm not an expert on that map, and am not sure that it'll work on a different card to the one it was supplied on. If it will I suspect you would need to copy the original files to the new card rather that leave it blank. Also ensure the card is formatted FAT32.

If that doesn't help then someone else might have a better idea.

I got impatient - did a Force Quit and repeated the update process - now seems to be past the freeze point and actually has a time status of 3 hrs remaining so looks like all is well!
