Help. I posted this the 520 board but suspect this might be a better place. I have a relatively new Garmin 520 and I cannot get it to connect to my Mac any way or any how. I've updated all the various software -- Garmin Express, the ANT updater -- and tried connecting the 520 to the Mac directly with a USB cable as well as trying to use the little ant USB stick. Nothing. Garmin Express is just a spinning wheel forever. The Garmin Ant Agent just says "searching for device..." and nothing shows up in the Finder either. The Garmin Ant Agent says "turn on computer pairing in your devices" but I cannot find any reference to that in any manual or on the 520. I am about ready to give up and eBay the whole lot but I suspect I am one trick away from figuring this out. If it matters, I am running OS X El Capitan 10.11.3 (15D21) on a MacBook Air; Garmin Express 4.1.18.0 and Garmin ANT Agent 2.2.2. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
Garmin ANT Agent is only for use with our wireless devices like the Forerunner 405, 310XT, etc. The Edge 520 is a mass-storage device and will connect to your Mac like a hard drive.
Neither Garmin Express nor Garmin ANT Agent work properly if the other is running. If you do not have a wireless communication device, you should uninstall Garmin ANT Agent completely. That application running could be why Express is not detecting the device.
How do I uninstall ANT Agent?
Now when connecting your Edge 520 to your Mac, does it go into mass-storage mode, show the icon of the computer connection on the display? Have you tried the troubleshooting in our FAQ:
Why is my Garmin mass storage device not communicating with Garmin Mac applications?
If the troubleshooting in our FAQ fails to resolve the communication issue, it would be best to contact Product Support by phone for further assistance.
