segment-leaders (Transfer Error)

Hi, I'm trying to sync my Edge 520 with Garmin Express but receive the message 'Some files could not be sent to your device. segment-leaders (Transfer Error)'. I currently use Strava Live Segments but had the same error when I switched back to Garmin Segments.

I've reinstalled the Edge software and Garmin Express. I've manually deleted sync upload files from the computer.

Ride data does seem to sync from the device to GE but I can't see any segments on the device.

I should add that I've also tried disconnecting and reconnecting my Strava Premium account with Garmin Connect.

Any help much appreciated!

If you clear the sync queue in Garmin Connect of your segment data and sync with Garmin Express, the error should stop appearing:

    • Select the Sync Queue icon from the menu on the left
    • Click the X for each item in the queue to remove it, then Remove to confirm
    • Attempt to sync again in Express

You may also need to delete the pending download folder on the computer. The folder location is the same as the pending upload folder in the following FAQ, however it is the Download folder inside the Sync folder:

How do I remove FIT files that fail to sync in Garmin Express from my computer?

If this is the case, the issue is with the segment data that is being sent to the device, not an issue with Garmin Express. I recommend posting in the Connect forum or the Edge 520 forum:

    Edge 520: https://forums.garmin.com/forumdisplay.php?534-Edge-520

  • Thanks for the quick response Lisa. I already tried all of your suggestions but have just seen on the GC Status page that matching new Segments is turned off. This presumably is the cause of my woes! I'll wait until the fault is rectified before trying once more.
