HELP!!! Dakota 20 NOT FULLY LOADING UP MAPS HIT A BRICKWALL NOW…..:(

Received a Garmin Dakota 20 as a present, to be used for walking…..since purchasing have had nothing but problems trying to install a map onto it.

If anyone can help I would be most grateful….maybe someone who has had similar issues.

First of all using a mac with running OS X 10.8.5.

Installed BaseCamp on the mac and garmin communicator which seamed to work fine and recognised the unit and displays in BaseCamp….all well and good.

Decided to buy and try garmin TOPO map uk and Ireland from around £20.00……before spending considerable money on uk os maps.

When though the following process to install.

1. When to the link to download……..plugged in garmin and connected to software and it started download……..green bar….0% to 100% 24min……..20min to go etc all good I thought…
2. At the end it when back to 0% and said one minute to go……it stuck at the stage and NOTHING ELSE HAPPENED…..LIKE IT CRASHED.

3. OK so tried to install again at this stage now not enough disk space!!! Previous attempt must have left a half completed install on the unit.

4. What now…..I did a factory reset and losing everything that was preinstalled……and tried to install again……STILL THE INTERNAL MEMORY WAS NOT FREED UP??????

5. This was my last open buy a 32Gb micro SD and install on that, as can't free up the internal memory(which is another issue)

6. Went to do the install had the option to install on the SD card…..great I thought…….

7. The SAME HAPPENED AS IN POINT 1 IT CRASHED AGAIN.

8. Rang GARMIN not very helpful…..so wasted £120 on unit……..further £20 on maps and £10 on a SD Card…..

Am I doing something wrong it, maybe using the wrong software??? I have had a Garmin Forerunner Watch before and a Legend.

Nothing seems to get any easier with technology!!

I am sorry that you are having trouble installing your map. Unfortunately, we do not have a forum related to downloadable content issues. We do have an FAQ that may help you here: What should I do when having issues downloading Downloadable Content?

If these steps do not solve the problem, it would be best to contact Product Support again by phone.
