Garmin Express cant find my Fenix 3 device

I just bought the Fenix 3, but when I connect the watch to my mac / garmin express it does not find device. Everything else is connected fine and my usb charger connection works as it is charging when connected to the computer USB.

I contacted support who told me to follow the following steps and still not connecting

Support instructions --------

First, can you clear out the sync queue in your Garmin Connect account :

Log in to Garmin Connect
Select the third icon from the top
Remove everything that is there

Then, please clear out the below folders on your computer :

- ~user/Library2/Application Support/Garmin/Express/RegisteredDevices/Unit ID of device/PendingSyncUploads/Activities or /PendingSyncUploads/History

-----------------------------

Very frustrating and time consuming this afternoon

Any one have any ideas what else to try?

Thanks in advance for your help
Billy

  • I have tried connecting to my mac, another mac and a PC and none of the computers are picking it up.
There is no desktop icon for 'Garmin' and it does not show on my computer either following all the instructions above.
    It appears to be faulty.

I am sorry for the troubles. The fenix3 is a mass storage device, very similar to a USB flash drive. There are no special drivers needed for the computer, PC or Mac to communicate with it. If you follow the instructions in the FAQ below on two computers without resolving the issue then the issue is with the device itself. Try Powering off the fenix3. Hold the light button down until it prompts you to Power off. Give a few seconds then press the light button to power it on. Let it start up completely then connect it to the cradle and connect it to a USB port on the back or side of the computer. If the issue continues exchange it where it was purchased or contact Product Support by phone.

Again, I am sorry for the troubles.
