Garmin Nuvi 56LM won't boot (white screen)

So I own a Garmin Nuvi 56LM. I just plugged it into my Mac to check for updates and then ejected it in the normal way, no problems. But when I tried to turn it on it wouldn't boot.

I get a black screen with the Garmin logo on it that hangs for a few seconds. Then the screen flashes white once and it powers off. I tried doing a hard reset but it doesn't work. If I hold my finger in the bottom right the black screen with the Garmin logo hangs a while longer (about 30 seconds) but I still get the white flash and power off.

Is there a fix for this?
