This morning I received an email from Garmin stating that a new Lifetime Map Update (v2016.20) is ready for download. I connected the unit to my computer and launched Garmin Express - the response was: No update available. According to the unit (nüvi 1490) the installed maps are (Europe) v2016.10 - seems a bit confusing!?
Do you have lifetime maps? Also your nuvi uses the NT version of the CN EU map. Some say there is a 2016.20 version of this map but I'm not able to verify that at the moment.
There is a City Navigator Europe NT 2016.20 map update waiting to be installed on the 1490. Please make sure Garmin Express is up to date. If the device page does not show the Map Update Available notification click Tools then Remove Device at the bottom. Return to the Home screen then add the device again.
