I am trying to update my map on my Nuvi 1450. I spoke with a customer rep that said the reason I had no map was because when updating my computer probably went to sleep and even though it said it was properly updated it wasn't. I have reinstalled 4 times. Each time I set my computer to not sleep. I deleted the maps and reinstalled. I have A Mac running El Capitan, Just downloaded the latest Garmin Express. But I still have no maps other than the base map on my GPS, even though it shows the files on the SD card. Any help?
Is your nuvi 1450 a North America model? If so, the full NA map will not fit on the device and you need to use a micro SD card, 4 GB or larger.
Edit: Just reread your post and see that you are using a SD card, so that is probably not the issue. A couple of things you could try is to use Garmin MapUpdater instead of Express, or if all else fails try cloning (Google Garmin maps cloning method). How much free space is showing for the internal storage on your 1450? If your 1450 is short on free space, it may not complete the boot process correctly.
Given you've now tried 2 cards in 2 different nuvis perhaps the issue is the cards? You say the map files are on the cards?
Are the cards formatted FAT32? If so, are they selected on your nuvi? On the 1450 look under Tools, Settings, Map, MapInfo. On the 50 I think it's under Settings, Map and Vehicles, myMaps.
