Reinstall or Change Maps option not displayed in Garmin Express

My Garmin nuvi 260 was purchased in 2010. REcently in June 2015, I purchased a lifetime map update for North America, but when I was updating the Garmin, it said that there was no space and so at the time I only chose to update the East Coast because I live in NYC.

Now, I'm travelling to DEnver and I want to update the entire country. I've purchased a 32 GB SD card and also installed it in the slot. However, when I open the device in Garmin Express and select the Device I do not see the option to Change or Reinstall maps. I see Device Info, Help Manual, Back up and Optional Updates But no REinstall maps option.

I don't understand what's wrong and what the problem is. CAn anyone help me. Thank you.

Cheers

Thanks Curt. Read your PM. This doesn't work because in Garmin Express, all I see is Getting Started and Take the Tour. I do not see option to check for updates. Can you please give me screenshot help?

    Thanks.

The menu bar is at the very top of your screen. On the right is the Apple icon, next to that it will say Garmin Express. Click Garmin Express then About Garmin Express and Check for Update to Garmin Express. I'm sorry I do not have screen shots.

Thanks Curt. I was able to locate it! However, it says that the latest version requires my entire OS to be updated. I find it strange that the function of reinstalling maps is not available on the current OS. Can you please help me with any other option that I have. I'm really in a bind here.

    cheers

Since your seeing "Getting Started" in Express you have removed your device, correct? Go ahead and add it back again and see if your offered the 2016 map update. You will most likely have to complete an initial update of the EAST region. Once that is complete you should have the Change Region option which will install Full Coverage on the SD card. It is convoluted but it should get your maps installed. We go home in just a few minutes but the Garmin Product Support phones open at 8 AM CST. I recommend you contact them if you continue to have trouble.

Hi Curt! That worked. I first updated the East map, replugged the GPS and then it showed me the Reinstall map option and I was able to install the NA map with the sd card without any hassle. I didn't need to update Garmin Express. Thanks for your help.

This does seem like a convoluted way and I hope that you update the documentation on the website to indicate that this is what one might need to do.
