Garmin Express doesn't recognize Garmin S6 after upgrade MAC 10.11 El Capitan

Hello,

I am a Mac User. My Garmin S6 was working fine with Garmin Express while running 10.10 from Mac. Then decided to upgrade to 10.11. Now my Garmin Express doesn't recognize it anymore but the dock is still charging the watch..

I have uninstalled / reinstalled the application, no changes. Then changed USB port nothing occurs. Then deleted in my profile my watch in Garmin Express. My watch was found but for few seconds later pop up from mac stating can't read the watch as a disk..

Any clues?

If you are experiencing issues connecting a device other than the Approach S5 or S6 to a Mac running the 10.11 El Capitan OS X, please check other threads in this forum. This thread should only be used for the Approach S5 and S6 devices.

But, don't worry: the techies are working on it as the clock keeps ticking.
Must be a huge problem for a technical company.
Will they ever be able to solve this?

s6 connect to mac with El capitan

Hi I got it fixed and solution as below:
Mass storage devices typically appear as a drive on your computer, allowing easy access to data on the device regardless of operating system. Occasionally, the device may not appear as a drive.

If the device is not recognized as a drive:

Ensure device interface option is set to Garmin Spanner or Garmin SerialAnswer*Yes*to any prompt to enter mass storage mode

If device is still not recognized after one minute, a boot block will be necessary.

    To perform the boot block:

Ensure device battery is fully chargedDisconnect device from computerPower device offDownload, install and run*WebUpdaterProceed to Find Device screenPress and hold the appropriate button(s)*Approach S3/S4/S6: MEASUREPlug device into computerWait until device is recognized by computer, it may take up to 30 seconds for device to be recognized as a driveIf prompted, install USB device drivers:Choose,*No, not at this timeClick NextChose,*Install USB drivers automatically (Recommended)Click Next Wait for USB driver installation to completeClick FinishRelease appropriate button(s)Backup device to*BaseCamp*to backup deviceClick Find Device in WebUpdaterIf needed, update deviceRight-click on device driveClick EjectDisconnect device from computerIf required, insert batteries into devicePower on deviceWait for update to complete

Your device should now function normally.
  • S6 not recognised by Mac running El Capitan

Please notify me when a solution is found.

    Thanks.
  • Suggested fix doesn't solve the problem for S6 connected to MAC

Suggested fix does't work; WebUpdater reports software version 3.0 and suggests upgrade to 3.20 , while watch reports 3.20 . Nothing about installing USB drivers.... and doesn't understand what BaseCamp has to do with S6.
I am very disappointed about this way of handling my problem.
  • Garmin just released a software update to resolve this issue.

    Versions:

    Approach S5 - 2.30
    Approach S6 - 3.30

Garmin Express and WebUpdater will offer these updates. Because the devices do not physically mount on 10.11 El Capitan, the update will need to be performed on a Mac running an OS X older than 10.11 (10.10 or older) or on a Windows PC.

It may take some time for the update to populate to all our servers so if it is not available at first, please try again later.

    Fix Garmin Approach S6 Software

I'm sure you realize that reverting to an older version of a widely used Mac operating system doesn't make sense. Make your software compatible. Any other fix is unacceptable.
  • After update S6 to 3.30 watch is recognized and Express works.

Using WebUpdater following the procedure described before- keeping the counting button pressed to start the loader of the S6 - I succeeded after several failures to load the version 3.30 in the S6. Now it works.
