Garmin Express doesn't recognize Garmin S6 after upgrade MAC 10.11 El Capitan

Hello,

I am a Mac User. My Garmin S6 was working fine with Garmin Express while running 10.10 from Mac. Then decided to upgrade to 10.11. Now my Garmin Express doesn't recognize it anymore but the dock is still charging the watch..

I have uninstalled / reinstalled the application, no changes. Then changed USB port nothing occurs. Then deleted in my profile my watch in Garmin Express. My watch was found but for few seconds later pop up from mac stating can't read the watch as a disk..

Any clues?

  • wake up!

10 days ago, I asked if you could fix this problem.
El Capitan has been in beta for a long time.
You certainly must have been testing before the public release of El capitan hit the market.
    Or have you been sleeping?
For a premium product (Garmin) it is hard to believe that you let your customers down like this.
Shape up and get this thing fixed!!!!

Seriously Garmin get your act together

I've just upgraded to El Capitan to discover my S6 no longer functions. Thought it was my computer but then attached my nüvi 2599 which had no problems. Getting frustrated as I'm trying to track my scores and have games every other day so searched and found this thread.

Really irked when I realised how long this has been going on and at some of Garmin's responses such as - "Go away and use a computer that hasn't been upgraded with El Capitan" - Really

The S6 is a premium product that no longer functions as advertised with no solution on the horizon in response to a well publicised software upgrade and beta testing programme by one of the world's best known manufacturers.

It's a bit like the captain of the Titanic not merely hitting the iceberg because the ship turned too late but rather deciding to go full steam ahead regardless!

    Get it sorted

Updated and now no connection to my Approach S5

I also did the update and now I can't connect my Approach S5 to my Mac. Please report in this thread what the current status is. Has Garmin been able to reproduce the issue?

    Same with Forerunner 220

The Garmin Forerunner 220 is not recognized after update to OSX El Capitan.

The Forerunner 220 and the Edge 1000 mass storage devices are not having the connection issue like the Approach S5/S6. Garmin has been able to duplicate the issue with these two devices and they are the only two that can be attributed to the OSX El Capitan update. Your connection issues are due to another reason. I suggest you review the FAQ article below or contact Garmin Product Support by phone.

What can I do if my fitness mass storage device is not being recognized by the computer?

As far as the issue with the Approach S5/S6, there is no update from the engineers on the situation. We will update this thread as soon as we have new information.

The first beta of OS X El Capitan was released to developers shortly following the 2015 WWDC keynote on June 8, 2015
Has your developer been on holiday since?
How come this bug was not found and resolved?
I am really saddened by Garmin's response to this situation.
No word from your tech's is not giving a positive impression for a costly high end product.
