Is my map loaded correctly? Please help.

Hello

I have an older NUVI. I have a Mexico map on SD card. when I look to see what maps are loaded, Its difficult to tell if the Mexico map is loaded—however, If i go into Simulation mode, and put the way point somewhere in Mexico and try a faux navigation to another point within Mexico, the device seems to find the route and calculates

Does this mean the map is indeed loaded correctly?

thanks in advance
  • Probably. You should be able to establish this simply by zooming out then pan across to Mexico and zoom in to see if the detail shows. You don't mention your nuvi model but look under Tools, Settings, Map, Map info as that should show you what is loaded.

    Thank you!

I did do that, and it seemed to show all roads in Mexico.

However, I also moved over to Asia, which I know I don't have this map, and it also showed roads as well.

    What do you think?

    thanks
  • Devices have a basemap, so you need to ensure you're seeing more than that. If you zoom way in the basemap tends to be straight lines ... whereas if you have the CN map you'll see more detail.

    thanks again

so if i go to "simulator" mode and zoom way into Mexico, and I see roads with numbers and details, that means the map is in fact loaded?

when i look under maps to see which are loaded (this one is on SD card), I see NorthAmerica. Mexico is in NA, but I'm still unsure it's actually loaded and the Nuvi is "seeing" it

    thanks again
  • Look also with the sd card removed if Mexico is on the card, you should see a difference. But really if in simulator mode it's working you really shouldn't worry.
