I have several Garmin Products and I have given up on the Mac for updates. Garmin has NEVER got the Mac software to work correctly. At least not for me. I always have to go to my windows machine for updates. And WHY does an update need to take 3 hours? I can download 3 movies and watch 2 of then while the gps for my bike updates.
There's more involved in a map update download rather than a simple film. Even though my map updates only take about an hour, what speed is your internet connection?
I have given up on the current version of Garmin Express for the Mac. I have both a Garmin navigation device and Vivosmart that cannot be updated because the software never 'sees' the device that is hooked up to the computer via the USB cable. Numerous USB ports have been tried but none have worked, and they work with other software and devices without issues.
I have installed the most recent version of Garmin Express, with no positive results. Any ideas?
I am sorry for the troubles. As long as a USB port on the back or side of the Mac is used the device should show up in Finder as mounted drive. Please see the FAQ article: Why doesn't my computer detect my device when it's in USB Mass Storage Mode? If you continue to have trouble please contact Garmin Product Support by phone.
Tried all the suggestions, but the software still has a problem. The software used to work when it was updating the Garmin I owned previously, but an update to the software apparently killed that.
