Not deleting wifi networks

Former Member

I'm continuing to have the problem of my 620 duplicating wifi networks in my watch, resulting in not being able to sync by wifi. That's a known issue and I know how to deal with it - by deleting the networks in Express - except that Express isn't deleting them any more.

I know this for sure because there are networks I haven't used in months that are still appearing (several iterations) in my 620, even after supposedly deleting them in Express and *not* re-entering them.

Garmin Express may be displaying duplicates because your Forerunner 620 has duplicate listings in the .bin files in the WiFi folder on the device. Have you tried deleting the folder on the Forerunner 620 and re-configuring the Wifi network? If not, please do so. Be sure to empty the trash after deleting the folder.

How do I configure the Wi-Fi settings on my fitness device?

Okay, I deleted the folder (which was empty BTW), emptied the trash, un-mounted and re-mounted the watch, and the networks (three different networks, two iterations of two of them and three iterations of the third) are STILL appearing in Garmin Express.

So, I deleted all the networks from Garmin Express again, noted that the WIFI folder now contained a file entitled IN.BIN, deleted the WIFI folder again, emptied the trash, un-mounted and re-mounted the watch, and all the networks still appeared in Garmin Express.

In the meantime I got the update to GE v. 4.17.0 so I let that install. In case the bug was fixed in the new version, I went through the procedure one more time - deleted all the networks from GE, quit GE, deleted the WIFI folder from the 620, emptied the trash, un-mounted and re-mounted the watch, and all seven iterations of the network are STILL appearing in Garmin Express.

I will call support when I have the opportunity, but please put in a bug report as well.
