Please allow Garmin Express or Webupdater to update help (*.gml) files.

Good afternoon everyone,

Please Garmin developers, place the help (*.gml) files in the Garmin Express or Webupdater software patches. Some have lost those help files and need them back. What is 2MB worth of data going to occupy? Thanks, appreciate it.

I am sorry that you lost your help files. You can restore the help files using Garmin Express:
    • Connect the device to your computer
    • Open Garmin Express
    • Select your device or click Add a Device and follow the on-screen instructions to add the device to express
    • Click Tools
    • Click Other Files under Optional Updates
    • Check nuvi 30/40/50 Help Files (I am assuming you are needing help with your nuvi 50 but you should see help files for whichever device you have selected)
    • Click Install Now

Help files are in *.htm format.

    Thank you Jason.

Thank you Jason. I went in and rename all the files from *.gml to *.htm in the Help/American_English folder. It didn't appear on the Garmin Express Optional Updates so I got clean files from another nuvi 50LM.

After renaming or moving the files, you would need to disconnect the Nuvi and allow it to boot up. This updates a file which acts like an inventory list. Express should then detect the missing files and allow you to reinstall them.
