Forerunner 305: No map in Garmin Connect on activity

Hi,

Since windows 10, I've been having all sorts of different problems getting my FR305 synced with Garmin Connect. I won't bother you all with those problems since I can read that a lot of people are having similar problems.

However, I am now facing a different problem that I haven't encountered before - my uploaded activity doesn't have the map data. I have checked the device history and I can see plot data.

So how do I get the map data transferred as well? The activity I did on Friday, has all the map, so it is an on/off error.

The activity: https://connect.garmin.com/activity/897530562

Cheers!

I am sorry for the troubles. It appears your 305 only output the totals data. This is most like due to the internal memory getting full. Please delete anything in the History menu that has already been uploaded to Garmin Connect. If you keep less than 30 days worth of activities in the History menu you'll be less likely to run into Sync issues.

    Hi Curt,

Thank you for the assistance. I did delete activities recently but kept last 30 days.

Why can I see map and plot data on the 305 if there is memory full? Shouldn't it upload it if it exists on the device?

The watch contains a representation of the route to display on the watch but some of the detailed GPS data for each track point in the route is corrupt. That is why the watch will not output a detailed file. It will only output the summary file in the previous post. Unfortunately, nothing more can be done with that particular activity and it should be deleted from the watch. Future activities should display correctly since you have deleted all the old activities, making room for new data.

Again I am sorry for the troubles.

So I deleted all activities older than a month and now I am having problems again. I have only had 6 activities since then. It really doesn't make sense :(

I pulled the Original files uploaded from the 15th, 17th, and today. The file from today contained only the summary data which is why there is no map. The Map requires the watch to record GPS trackpoint data. Trackpoint data contains the position, speed, time, elevation, and course of each point on the route. Did you change anything in your procedure, on the watch or other equipment between the 17th and the 20th? This is still a device related issue. Since you have deleted all the old History from the device I suggest you Master Reset it.

    How do I perform a reset on my Forerunner 305, 205, 301, 201 or 101?

If you continue to have troubles the device may need to be replaced. Please contact Garmin Product Support by phone for available options.
