There was an error syncing with Garmin Connect - Edge 1000

Hi,

I'm getting the error message "There was an error syncing with Garmin Connect" when I try to sync my Edge 1000.

I am at a loss what to try. So far I have reset the garmin to factory default. Uninstalled and Re-installed Express on 3 computers. Deleted all the activities on the garmin decive. Removed and added the device in Express and abslutely nothing.

The error message is almost worthless, as is the device I spent hundreds of pounds on.

Has anyone got any advice of what to try?

Thanks in advance

Dave

Sounds like you need to delete the corrupted data from a past sync on the computer. There is a link on how to do so in the last bullet in our FAQ:

What should I do if I am unable to sync my mass storage fitness device using Garmin Express?

Thank you for your replly, but this has faiiled to fix the problem. I have also tried uninstalling Express again and ensring the whole Garmin directory from the '%ProgramData%' folder was also removed.

It just will not sync. I have tried it on 3 computers and nothing, Window 10, Windows 8 and Windows 7, absolutely nothing. Including fresh installs of Express

Please check the Sync menu in Connect per the article suggested by Lisa. There is a course and several segments in the Sync menu. These will remain there until they sync with the the Edge. If they are corrupt they will not go away until you delete them. Please delete the items in the Sync menu then create a short test activity on the Edge and see if it will sync with Connect. Keep an eye on the Sync menu especially if you send Courses to the Edge. If you repeatedly have Sync issues after sending Courses then you'll have to recreate the courses manually before sending them. FAQ: How do I create a course?

If you continue to have trouble please contact Garmin Product Support by phone.

    Hi Support,

It would really help if you read my posts before replying.

I have Reset the Edge 1000 to factory default, therefore deleting everything from the device.

I have uninstalled Express and installed again on three computers (Windows 7, Window 8 and Windows 10 - one of them was a completely fresh install, Express wasn't ever on there).

I have deleted all the .FIT files from the device.

It is still not working. It would help if you could tell us what else I'm supposed to delete that isn't deleted by a factory reset or uninstalling Express - links to generic basic procedures which obviously will not work are not a great way forward in helping resolve the issue.

I'm a very loyal customer to Garmin, but the support is just as shockingly bad as the appalling Express software you've developed.

One very unhappy customer, but looking at the forums, I'm on a long list of them

This issue is not with the Device or Express. There are items in your SYNC menu in Garmin Connect waiting to be sent to the EDGE 1000. When you try to add it to Express these items cause a problem and you get an ERROR. Login to your Connect account through a Web Browser and DELETE the items in your SYNC menu on the left, then add the EDGE to Express.

Unless you select segments and purposefully send them to the Edge, delete them from the Sync menu in Connect before Syncing. We are investigating an issue with segments automatically being sent after a course and without them being selected by the user.

    Hi,

Deleting the item from the sync menu resolved the issue temporarily. I created a test route (couple of hundres meters) and synced, which worked, however when I create a proper course (50 mile course) and try to upload the same sync errror appears. I have tried changing the course and just can't get it to upload. The device just fails to sync.

This is really frustrating that there is no real error message or way to resolve this issue. I never had an issue before Garmin (in their wisdom) released the shoddy Garmin Express and never had a problem with my old Garmin 605 for years. Garmin 'Progress' is so shockingly poor I'm extremely unhappy wth Garmin, the terrible software, appalling hardware and terrible support (before you even get me started on the route finding on Garmin Connect, with all the mapping data Garmin have for decades and constantly get sent down non-roads and dirt tracks).

Sort it out Garmin, really unhappy, really very unhappy!

Are you selecting segments for your course? If not, did you delete them from the Sync menu before proceeding with Garmin Express as Curt suggested?

If so, more in depth troubleshooting is necessary and it would be best to contact Product Support by phone for further assistance.

Best option is change internet browser , problem is with windows internet explorer , Microsoft and Garmin have got no idea, wankers , try google chrome or mozilla firefox , just use chrome
    for all activities.
