Problem to update Nuvi 1490T

Hello,
I wanted to update the maps of my nuvi 1490T

since I had little space on nav I decided to update only a partial map, the problem now is that, in other countries have only the main roads

all day I'm trying to reinstall to update the maps of all Europe but without results

I have subscribe to updates for life, I follow all the steps, but I can not update all maps

Garmin Express tells me that the device is updated (Europe 2016 maps) , but in reality there are only a few countries on the nav maps

how do I fix?
no way to delete all maps and redo everything from zero?

thank you
  • You should find the option to install the full map when you run Express. If not try removing gmapprom.img from the .system folder on your nuvi. Copy the file to your PC first just in case. Then run Express again.

  • Do you not get a reinstall or change regions option?

    yes, i have,

i have: reinstall map or change map, but not working

now i try change map, and i choose full europa map, when the update is finished, is till have the same map like before

the bad is that I have a day before leaving for the holidays and I'm not finding solutions :(
  • Are you using a micro SD card for the map install? If not, you may have a space issue for the full map. If you are using SD, what size is it? You would need at least 4 GB, 8 GB would be better. Make sure the card is formatted FAT32.

If all else fails, you might want to try the "cloning" method to install the map directly to a micro SD card. Just Google "Garmin Maps Cloning Method" and you will find an article explaining the procedure.

i'm using a micro SD card 4GB, on device there are 2.96GB and i have 14 GB free on pc

I am trying once more time to do: change the map

the display says 1 hour and 8 minutes, is possible?

is better to re-delete from device the file gmapprom.img?

    thanks again

I am sorry for the troubles. If you were able to use the Change Region option and select the Europe Full Coverage region then Express should be sending that to the SD card. The map image is about 3.32GB in size. If you continue to have troubles update Garmin Express to 4.1.6 and try again or contact Garmin Product Support by phone and they should be able to get the issue resolved before your trip.

the latest attempt appears to have been successful

now also map Worldwide DEM Autoroute Basemap NR

I do not know what it is, but with CN Europe NT 2016.10 seems to work all well

    thanks to all for help
  • Great, glad it worked. I'll close this thread.
