I have a Garmin Nuvi 2797 and the internal memory is almost full- only 16 MB left. I tried using a 4GB,8GB and 32GB sd card but none of them worked. I can see the card when exploring the folders, but when I try to install something from Garmin Express I don't get an option to install it on the sd card. My Garmin Express version is 4.1.5.0. And if it's possible I would like to move the maps from the internal memory to the sd card because the unit sometimes is running really slow.
Garmin Express will prompt you for a card during a map update if there isn't sufficient space left. Note you can free up space by deleting any unwanted Help, EULA, Vehicle, Voice, Text and keyboard files.
The voice files must be installed to the actual device. You will need to free up more space on the device in order to load that voice file from Garmin Express. There are some files that can be read from the SD card but the voices are not one of them, not in the documentation that I have checked in regards to this issue. This is why it is not prompting for an SD card.
