Nuvi 3590 map update problem

I have bought used nuvi 3590 LM and wanted to do maps upgrade.
First after complete nuvi backup I tried to use mapupdater but it doesn't allow me to do update and shows me message “A map update is available for purchase" . There is also option “I would like to enter a product key” but it doesn't work if I use key visible one mygarmin account for this map.

So I tried to use Garmin Express as well (installed map version is City Navigator Europe NTU 2014.10 - Map+3D+HT+PA+P) – it went up to 50% and suspended system, after restart it proposes to install only some regions what is strange. I have tried to install one region then and finally installation error occured. Therefore I manually deleted all maps and Express installed selected region sucesfully.

My questions are - how I can install whole map ? Why I cannot use mapupdater which looks better for me than Express ? What file do I need to delete to install complete maps ?

And another topic I would like to ask You. I'm still using nuvi 1490 and what is great is possibility to send to this planned trips on PC. it works fine. I did the same in Base Camp and send trip to 3590. When I select trip it shows me couple of via points and asks me to which point I'm going to go. It is strange. If I select final destination it skips my trip which I planned on pc and calculating way itself. If I select first point then all looks fine and when I get it it draws the rest of the trip. Is it ok or I do something wrong in Base Camp ? I mean how should I modify trip in BC ?

The way trip planner is working is normal. As for your map update issue Express should offer you the option to install mapping to a SD card if there isn't sufficient space on your device. Run Express again and you should get that option. When prompted insert a SD card, 8Gb will be ample.

thank You so much. I will buy today 8GB micro SD card then.
Do you know if there is any issue with mapupdater with nuvi 3590 ? I would prefer such option as it worked perfectly with my existing nuvi 1490. Or mapupdater doesn't work properly with 3590?

if I select option “I would like to enter a product key” in mapupdater which number should I use ?
In mygarmin account I see following info (2016.10 region installed yesterday so I will reinstall today for whole map)

Code: QZXXXXX and VAXXXXXX was not valid in mapupdater (maybe I will try once again after reinstallation). I would like to use mapupdater for future updates.

Regarding Basecamp this is standard way of proceeding , creating trip, modifying it via adding piece of trip etc ? Then selecting in nuvi first via point ?

MapUpdater is no longer recommended, so getting Express to work is probably a better option. It works well with my 1490 so should easily cope with yours.

You should really raise any further Basecamp issues in that forum if you're still confused but as I said, what you're seeing is normal.

Ok

I tried to install map update as it is with all original files. Again it achieved 50% and stopped. Maybe I have damaged originally installed maps ? I deleted all img files and reinstalled by Express and it was getting updated sucesfully. I do not know where the problem is as it shouldn't be like that I need to remove any files manually.

I am sorry for the troubles. It is difficult to determine why Express would stop about halfway while installing a map update to the Nuvi. According to your account it appears that the map update succeeded earlier today. There is a 2016.10 unlock code for the device and those are only created after the maps have downloaded to the computer, just before they are copied to the device or SD card. Since you have admittedly modified files on the Nuvi I suggest to contact Garmin Product Support by phone if you continue to have troubles.

In case the update did succeed but only installed a small map region, please see the FAQ: How do I reinstall maps or change coverage using Garmin Express? If the Nuvi is healthy and there is a blank SD card in the device, Express should prompt you to use the card and install Full Coverage. Again, Product Support could help you by phone if you continue to have troubles.

Again I am sorry for the troubles.

with the 50% issue I'm going to use above instructions during weekend. First upload full previous backup and start as it would be "fresh" nuvi do what is mentioned in instruction and try

yes I did upgrade but first had to manually delete all img files :-)
Wow this is reason I think as I installed maps only to Nuvi as Im usuing 1490 and had already installed maps on my PC. Thanks good idea will check
