Garmin Express - 310Xt data syncing but activity not showing up in connect

This morning I synced my 310xt using Garmin express version 4.1.5.0 which i installed over the last few days.
I went through the process,
plug in ant stick, watch nearby, watch indicated transferring data, logged into Garmin connect - no data.

can you advise of any steps I can take to see where the breakdown is in the system on my side.

Not sure if this important, but the time on the watch is incorrect, it is set to 24 hour clock and automatic

Windows 7 is running on the computer.
