Hi,
I have just bought a Nuvi 52 in France and I am moving to Scotland in 3 days.
But the gps do not recognize the cities I indicate him to go (Dundee, Montrose, even in England.. Cheltenham, even london) I typed them in English or french and the gps does not know them. Though it is updated, I have the map CN EUROPE NTU 2016.10 (southrn europe) as a map. On garmin express I don't know how and if I can change it. I really need a gps to go there because I am stressed enough on driving on the left side.
I have garminnumap lifetime.

Thank you.. I am in a hurry and couldn't find any help else where.
Best regards,
Manu
  • Doesn't sound like that map includes the UK. You will need to purchase the relevant update.

Are you using the nuvi 2595LMT? If so, our database does not show it has been unlocked for 2016.10 mapping yet. Were you using a pre-loaded SD card? I see that the device does have the map update available for City Navigator Europe NT 2016.10. Try to run the update again. If there is not enough space on the device to hold all of Europe, insert a blank micro SD card to load the updated maps. I recommend an 8 GB.

If you continue to have problems with the map update, contact Product Support by phone for further assistance.

I am using a garmin nuvi 52, that I bought for a cheap price in an official shop. The map include spain because i succeded in entering few spanish cities to try.
I m pretty noobish with GPS, so where can I purchase a map for UK ? becuase on Garmin express it is just possible to get the update.

In fact I have no SD card in the GPS but it says on the program that the memory isn't full; 59% or something. 1,57 Go available still on the gps. I ll try to reinstall the map and I will see if it works, otherwise I ll get a sd card and get a new map. How can I know what is the content of a map ? Moreoever, when I zoom out, I can the roads in UK.. So I am confused..

If the device was pre-loaded with Southern Europe, the Lifetime Map Update will only update Southern Europe. You can purchase a pre-loaded SD card or Downloadable Content mapping. However neither of them can be updated for a reduced price in the future. If you want to update the maps for UK, you would need to purchase the pre-loaded card or download again. Purchasing a full version DVD for Europe would not give you the rest of Europe for this device. Here is our FAQ on the available map formats:

Should I purchase mapping for my GPS on a disc, pre-programmed datacard, or as downloadable content?

I recommend purchasing a device that is pre-loaded for UK & Ireland or Full Coverage of Europe, and comes bundled out of the box with lifetime maps.

However if you want to checkout the mapping, click this link:

  • Actually if you purchase a EU lifetime update that will give you the full EU maps so that may be the better way to go if you're likely to want other countries in the future.

Manu.R's original post said he had Lifetime Map Updates for the device out of the box. He will not be able to purchase another Lifetime or Onetime Map Update to unlock the full coverage.

  • While that is true for the NA maps the EU ones are different, this from Garmins webpage

Even if your original maps just covered a single region, nüMaps upgrades 1 device for the whole of Europe so you enjoy a Lifetime of confident navigation.

Hello, thank you for all your fast answer.
I have also contacted my seller, and I can perhaps exchange it because I asked for an availability on UK and it doesn't. My only criteria for a cheap GPS. Problem the shop is 45 mn away.
Nevermind I will complain there and try to get the same brand of GPS. Now that I have an account in all Garmin stuffs & program.
If every thing went bad with them, I ll perhaps try to change my card or use my father's garmin gps while I am away and give this one to him.
Anyway, thanks again, I guess my thread has found solutions!
