mine updated itself today and now it doesn't work ... even though I have updates turned off.
so my feeling is that even if you do find one (I'll try to upload mine tonight for you) it will just suffer the same fate.
  • I'll be blunt here! :)

XP came out 15 years go, and in computer terms, that's an incredibly long time!

After XP came Vista, Win7, win8, win8.1 and win10 (that's 4 big updates to windows, and (mumble, mumble) Vista)

MS dropped support of XP 18 montns ago.

It's probably at the point where supporting XP has become a big burden for Garmin, considering there is no support for it from MS, and too be honest, very few people are using XP any more.

It might be time to upgrade your computers!

Somehow you've managed to perfectly capture the essence an entire organisation in 16 words. When I look up Garmin in the dictionary I want to see this.

    1) donations kindly accepted, I can PM you with my paypal details
    2) I am quite happy with all that I have on my box, its heavily installed upon and does the other things very well (the non garmin express things
    3) I'm moving towards Linux not MS ... Garmin does not support that either as far as I know.
    4) Why not just leave Garmin Express alone, if I wanted more functionality I'd be more willing to upgrade. I know GE does many things, but really I'm just interested in the Vivofit. But Garmin can talk me out of that if they like.

they could just leave it alone and not spend a cent. Certainly with their push away from XP there will be no XP users here. That's not to say no XP users, just none here. Vista was widely recognised as a failure and 8 was hardly a step forward. Your attitude is neither helpful nor conciliatory.

  • You really need to ask about XP in the GE forums - it might not even be GE, but something else may have updated a common file.

They did it to OSX a while back too. I forget exactly when automatic sync with leopard stopped working. As you mentioned, I can't see the harm of leaving the old data paths as an option for legacy users.
There could be a reason legacy access has been removed, my experience would lead me to believe that it was done simply "Because Garmin".

    Things I could suggest:
    • Linux plugin on linux host machine or VM
    • Windows 7 isn't half bad, not too expensive
    • Manual activity uploads to connect.garmin.com using your device in USB storage mode
    • Run (away from Garmin as fast and as far as you can)
  • I've moved this to the Express forum so the Express team can comment. You can of course continue to use MapUpdater and WebUpdater as far as I know.

I need XP for critical software so its not an option for me. Also, MS are still providing critical support for XP (I get updates every so often). I paid for "lifetime maps" in Feb 2014 and at no time was I told that XP support would be dropped by Garmin so you can imagine that I feel A) let down and B) ripped of. I've tried the latest Mapupdater from Garmin and that doesn't work either.....
  • @Dave1978 ... There is no reason that Garmin MapUpdater shouldn't work on XP. If it isn't, then you must have something else going on with your computer or device.

Windows XP Usage Still Strong at 250 Million Users

    I quote:
    " By Scott Bekker
    04/08/2015

Despite not being officially supported by Microsoft for the last year, 250 million users are still actively using Windows XP, according to market analysts.

The two major share tracking outfits, Net Applications and StatCounter, both report significant ongoing use of Windows XP in their latest public data covering March 2015."

    see link
    https://redmondmag.com/articles/2015/04/08/windows-xp-usage.aspx

Garmin Express v 4.1.5.0 and any other version are all 32 bit software.
There is no reason why it should not work on any XP pc.
It is how they code the software to stop user's of XP from using it.

Someone out there should have an old version of Garmin Express that will work on his XP PC.
