Garmin express is giving message that "There was an error installing the update". I have SD card installed of 8 GB (of which 5 GB is free), and the size of the update is 2.23 GB. So, please guide me to get the 2016.10 update for my Garmin nuvi 1390LMT?

Thanks in advance.
  • Are you running the latest version of Express? If not update then try again.

I checked the database and the 2016.10 map update has been unlocked for your device. If the error happened after it activated the mapping, then it is because of a communication/transfer issue between the device and the computer. Connect the device directly to a port, use one on the back if this is a desktop computer. Sometimes the ports on the front of a tower are hubs and it is not recommended to use any hub or splitter. Try formatting the SD card and try the update again.

You may want to try using another computer, or contact Product Support by phone for further assistance.

I had this problem a week ago and contacted Garmin Support. They sent me a file to install on my computer. After that the map installed correctly (unlocked).
