Windows 10 and express not working.

Hi,
Yesterday I upgraded my computer to Windows 10, now I cannot upload to Garmin connect via Garmin express. I have three Garmin devices, Edge 200, Edge 510 and a Forerunner 110. They all show up in device manager but do not show up as usb mass storage devices in explorer. When launching Garmin express (latest version) and clicking on the add button it does not see any of my three devices!! Does anyone else have this issue!!!

I take it that Windows 7 loaded the drivers, assigned the drive letter correctly on the devices, and they appeared in Windows Explorer?

On your screenshot, you didn't expand the System Devices or Universal Serial Bus Controller. Would you please take another shot with those expanded? Attach multiple shots if necessary.

What about Disk Management, would you please screenshot that as well?

  • Hi Lisa,
    that is the issue,
It does not show them up in explorer. As for the screen shots.... I have them but every time I try to upload them it cuts my internet connection. I then have to disable/enable my network card to get back online!!

In the meantime I have resolved the issue!!!
    1) Goto device manager>Disk drives>Garmin device>Right click>properties>Volumes>Populate>Ok.
    2) Goto Computer management>Storage>Disk management>Under volume right click on Garmin device>Change drive letter and/or paths>Add> select available drive letter>OK........
    3) Windows prompts about what to do when this removable drive is inserted.
    4) Express finds the device, runs through the usual setup and allows me to sync with connect!!!!!
    HUH!!!!??????
For some reason it seems Win 10 was failing to allocate a drive letter to my device........

    Wkindows 10 and Garmin Express

Windows 10 does a check of the PC when going through the register process and it clearly states that Garmin Express will not work as it is incompatible with Windows 10 and recommends that you contact Garmin. Over to you Garmin, please follow this up and make a clear statement as to what your loyal customers should do.
  • Maybe you haven't updated Express, the Win10 check on my PC says no issue and folks are happily running Express on Win10. If yours is failing it'll be because you have other issues.

Never got this on my check. It wasn't actually Express that was the issue but rather Windows 10 not assigning a drive letter to my Garmin devices. Now that I have resolved the issue I had everything works flawlessly!!!

Glad to hear it was an easy resolution. I'll close the thread.
