Nuvi 2597 Not Having Jack the Male Voice

Former Member
Former Member
I had used WEBUPDATER and Garmin Express to get Jack, the Male Voice that I had used on my previously used Nuvi 275W. Couldn't locate the voice. The only male voice available was the team lead's voice and I don't like his extra remarks and sometimes incorrect direction.

Please help

for voices that are available for your nuvi.

Note that not all voices are available for every device. so voices from older voices may not be available on newer ones, which in many cases are coded differently so cannot simply be transferred from one device to another.

    Thank you for your note.

As I had indicated in my previous note, I had used WebUpdater and Express to attempt to get the Jack the Male Voice. Your link shows how one could get voices through Express. That I had already done previously and to no avail.

I did look at the thread for Nuvi 2595 on Jack the Male Voice. Some users were able to get Jack ( :-o ). My model is only a version ahead...2597, so I would think Jack would be available. :-/
  • If it's not there then it's not. The 2xx7 series were released later than the 25x5 series and have different voice capabilities.
  • Language Files

On Garmin Express, make sure you are using the update feature under Tools > Optional Updates > Languages, and not the one under Vehicles and Voices.

    Thank you for your replies.

I did look around. On the new version of Garmin Express, the "optional updates" tab is under the DEVICE button. Once DEVICE button was pressed, I was able to see the "optional updates" and when the "optional updates" was clicked, I saw the language ... and the rest of the steps of the earlier link is the same.

Alas, once LANGUAGE - English (about 650 mb) is downloaded and the device is manipulated, I was able to see JACK (real directions).

    :D :D :D

    Thank you for everything.

    :-D :-D :-D
  • Not sure which version of Express you're using but it's under the Device, then Tools as explained in the FAQ. Clearly you need to select the Device tab first otherwise it doesn't know which device you want the voices for :)

Anyway, glad you got it sorted, I'll close this thread.
