Topo maps on new touring

Former Member

I purchased a new touring plus and wanted to put topo maps on the device.
I went on to Garmin website and paid for the maps to be downloaded. When i connect the device and click add to device it just keeps telling me there is not enough space but I have a SD card with enough room.
Can anyone give me some guidance on how to put this map on please.
Thanks
  • How are you trying to install the map?

Note the SD card must be formatted FAT32.

I plug the device in to usb port, when it has connected i go to "my maps" and click on add to device thats when it tells me there isnt enough space,
As for the sd card it came with the device and has 2.5gb of data on. formatting it will erase the data.
  • What data has that card got on it?

Have you tried inserting another card to see what happens?

havnt tried another yet as I dont have one
  • Moved to Express forum to see if the team there can help.

I suspect from what's shown that the card contains original Garmin map files so was supplied by Garmin, adding additional map files to that card may not be possible.
  • The "device" is the internal storage, which is very limited. You need to save the maps to the external storage (memory card), which might be referred to as "user storage" or something like that.
  • @BigAl1968 You should use a different micro-SD card, 4-8 Gb class 4-10, formatted FAT32 like already suggested above. Do not use the SD-card with the Garmin Cyclemap that came with the Touring if only to prevent accidental erasure or damage.
4 Gb maybe even too small, so check the size of the map(s) you are going to download. If size not quoted, ask Garmin support.
