910xt garmin express stuck adding device

in the past couple of days, Garmin express didn't download any data from the device. So I uninstalled/installed Garmin Express, but it now stays stuck in early configuration mode, after connecting to my account and giving a name to the device.

Any advice?

Best regards,
  • I did have that issue last week, I think I unplugged my Ant+ dongle from the back of my computer and relaunched the Garmin Express app. I won't lie, it took a few tries before it worked, but I got there in the end.

However the issue I'm now having is I can't launch the Garmin Express app on my Mac. it seems to be buggy, so I'm going to uninstall and hopefully reinstall (and see if I have a previous version in my download history).
  • i tried to remove the device association from garmin connect and then unplugged the ant dongle, uninstalled and reinstalled garmin express.
did not work. on 3 different PC's

I am having the same problem. As soon as I downloaded Garmin Express on my mac the ant+ stick for both of my garmin 910xts stopped recognizing my devices. The Ant agent also stopped working on my PC. So I had to start using my laptop. It was working ok until this last week when it won't sync properly. Garmin Express recognizes my device and says transferring data and says synced at whatever time but then hangs for hours trying to sync to garmin connect. I have tried several times and it finally times out and says not synced to garmin connect. Since I really don't care about having it in garmin connect this is bugging me. But the files aren't on my computer either since the process isn't complete. On another thread the tech said where to find the files and there are files in there but from 3 weeks ago - not from any of my recent sync attempts. And when I tried to manually update them just in case the computer got the date wrong, it said they were already imported. The last instructions said to delete the device from garmin express and add it again. But when I do that it hangs forever after I add the name as well and never adds my watch. So, now I am just hosed with data on my watch that I an't access because of garmin express issues. I have the latest update so I know that is not it. There is no way I am doing a master reset of my device and losing all of my data.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the device added and then hopefully to get the sync working again?

    Thanks!

I am sorry for the troubles. Please see the FAQ: How do I remove FIT files that fail to sync in Garmin Express from my computer? to locate and remove any .FIT files that may remain on the computer after a successful sync. I also recommend that you delete any activities that are already uploaded to Connect from the History menu on the device. Activities that remain on the device can interfere with the creation of new data over time.

If your having trouble adding the device back to Express after removing it, check the Devices menu in your Connect account and make sure it is also removed from there. Use the gray gear icon to remove the device before adding it back to Express.

Last Resort is to Master Reset the device. Search for Master Reset instructions in the FAQs.

  • i'll try again to delete and add the device, yesterday the pairing was not working, even deleting the association from garmin connect first.
by the way the links don't work...
  • strange.. from chrome i can't reach the faq section, from firefox seems ok
  • done, in the folder there aren't any file.
on the device the only activities are the ones that are not already uploaded to connect.

i still can't sync the device.

i really don't want to wipe the memory of the 910xt

Deleting the files from the computer and deleting the device from my account on garmin connect worked for me. I am back up and running. Thanks!
