OS is Windows 8.1 x64, current version of Garmin Express (v4.1.4.0), Edge Touring software version 2.70. When I connect the Edge Touring to the PC and start Garmin Express, it uploads my latest activities no problem, then tells me that there is one update available, routable cycle map of Europe version 2015.10. However, when I try to install the update, I get a few seconds of a screen saying "Preparing device for update", and Express then comes back with a very non-informative screen saying "There was an error installing the update", with no indication of what sort of error. I checked both the internal Garmin drive and the SD card for errors (none found). I've also done both a master reset on the Edge Touring and rebooted the PC - neither made any difference to the problem. Where do I go from here?
I am sorry for the troubles. Please see the FAQ: What should I do if I am having problems downloading updates in Garmin Express? If you continue to have trouble please contact Garmin Product Support by phone.
If you click the link you provided re "what to do when updates don't work" you get "an error occurred" page. My 1000 is stuck validating an update for over an hour now and it won't master reset.
That link isn't broken. If you can't access it then you may have an issue with your computer or ISP, which might also be the cause of your original issue. Do you run Ghostery or a similar program that could be blocking downloads?
