Loads of problems with Garmin Express

I tried to add my fenix 3 Sapphire to Garmin Express (i have it for a while but i never succeeded at adding it), the program did recognise i connected a device but it never got past the "loading device data" screen.
So i decided to uninstall Garmin Express. There comes the second problem, i got the "Failed, try again" message when uninstalling. I googled a bit and found the microsoft fix tool and did what was asked. In the tool itself the programs are not longer listed but in the "uninstall software window" of windows itself it is still listed and when i try to uninstall it there it tries to reinstall the old version (v4.0.16.0) and also fails to do that (again the "failed, try again" error). So i tried downloading the newest version of Garmin Express (v4.1.4.0) and i get the error "Installation Failed, Garmin Express could not be installed on this computer. Try to install again."

Please help

It sounds like the installer/uninstaller component is either missing or damaged in some way. This can happen from time to time especially if there is some type of PC cleaner on the computer. There's no real way to know what happened here but the short of it is that the uninstall package of the software is just not initializing. Even though there is no .msi error it sounds like you followed the correct steps in the FAQ: What should I do if the computer cannot find the .msi file when updating a Garmin Software Application? Since this did not resolve your issue I highly recommend contacting support by phone.

Ok I upgraded to Windows 10 and tried to install garmin express again and all problems are solved now.
Don't know if that's because of the upgrade or because there is a newer version of garmin express.
Either way no problems there anymore.

    Thanks for the reply.
  • Well there is a newer version of Express, and always best to check if you're having issue, but glad it's resolved, I'll close this thread.
