Can't add 405 b/c servers not available

New to using Garmin Express. I've added my Garmin 500 successfully. When I go to add the 405 watch, I get the following message:

"There was a problem connecting to the Garmin servers. We're unable to sign you in because our servers are unavailable at this time."

I've tried this several times over the last two days. Any idea what this means or how to resolve this issue?

  • have had exactly the same problem for several days tried all the FAQ suggestions nothing works. Contacted support they suggested all the stuff i've already tried

    I was able to look at the email that was sent to you. The steps provided typically take care of most issues. That being said, I would call support if those steps didn't work as they may be able to perform a remote session with you and take a deeper look at the situation.

    I tried everything that was suggested and nothing works. Is there any way to upload my Garmin files from my 405 watch without using this Garmin Express??

    I am sorry for the troubles. If the server error continues with Garmin Express you could try Garmin ANT Agent instead. You would need to completely uninstall Garmin Express and remove the ANT Stick from the computer before you install Garmin ANT Agent.

    ANT Agent is discontinued software no longer in development but as long as the issues are not related to the data on the device it may work. Get it here. If you get the data uploaded to Connect I suggest you uninstall the ANT Agent, Master Reset the watch then install Garmin Express and start using that.

    I recommend you contact Garmin Product Support by phone rather than use the ANT Agent but that's your call. Again, I am sorry for the troubles.

    Uninstalling Garmin Express is not an option as I need it for uploading files from my 500 bike computer.

    I spent 30 minutes on the phone with support. A human I could actually understand was on the other line within 30 seconds. However, I am still having the same problem. Why me????

    If you are not getting the Server msg in Garmin Express with the Edge 500 then the issue is not with Express but with the data on the Forerunner 405. You'll need to Master Reset the Forerunner 405 then add it to Garmin Express.

    There were some universal issues with SSO Single Sign On this morning that effected a lot of people but those have been resolved. Please see the FAQ below to Master Reset the 405.

    How do I master reset my Forerunner 410, 405CX or 405?
