I just purchased a Nuvi 2597 and installed Garmin Express. Express detected my device properly and I was able to tell it to install all updates. The update says it will take a good hour+ but it only took a minute then had me unplug the GPS, reboot the GPS and then after powering on the GPS, it would tell me to restart again due to installed updates.
I kept having to do this process over and over again even though I picked install all. This took hours, clicking install all, waiting any range of time from 1 minute to 5 minutes for it to install updates, then having to unplug and reboot the GPS and then reboot it again and plug back in etc etc. It appears to be only installing one update at a time despite me choosing install all.
So I looked at the list of updates and its says I have 8 left, not sure how many I started with. This time I selected one update (device software update) went through the process and then it still said 8 updates. I am not sure how this update process works but for all I know, I have spent hours not getting anywhere even though the software and the GPS act like updates have been installed. So I did it again and then it said I have 7. Great, but next time I went through the process it said I have 8 again. I know the actual maps never updated as no update took longer then 5 minutes. So what is the issue?
