Trouble with locked CN Europe 2016.1 map

Garmin Staff,

I have a nuvi 3590 LMT.
I used Garmin Express to download the CN Europe 2016.1 map on to my device.
This download went fine.

I also downloaded this map to my PC.
However, when I open Basecamp, the 2016.1 map on the computer appears
as LOCKED. In addition, two older maps which I also have on the computer
now appear as LOCKED. This is strange and has not happened before.

Basecamp prompts me to unlock the map online.
However, this online unlock step looks at the map on the nuvi, which
is already unlocked.

So, I cannot get Basecamp to use the 2016.1 map that is on my computer.

Question:

Is there a known problem with the 2016.1 map?

If so, will Garmin re-release it?

How do I unlock the 2016.1 map that I have on my computer
so that I can use it in Basecamp?

(I have also put this message on the Basecamp forum;
hoping to increase the chance of somebody seeing this question)
  • I have CN EU and have it working without issue. Use Express to download again just selecting the install to PC option.

    The maps themselves are good, the problem was probably with the unlock process when the maps installed. Try manually adding one of your unlock codes to BaseCamp. This should unlock all the maps.

    • Open BaseCamp
    • Click on the Maps menu
    • Click on Manage Map Products
    • Click on the Unlock Regions tab
    • Click Add
    • Paste one of the 25 character unlock codes in the first field, can be found in myGarmin:
      • Log into myGarmin
      • Click on myMaps/Manage Maps
      • Click Details on one of the map versions
      • Scroll to the bottom of the screen to Installed Maps
      • Copy the Unlock Code


    • Click OK (second box is optional and does not need an entry)
    • Close Map Product Manager
    • May need to close and open BaseCamp


    If the maps are still locked, contact Product Support by phone for further assistance.

    Thank you very much for those steps.
    They worked and the map is now unlocked.
    I haven't had to do this for a number of map
    iterations, hence I was unfamiliar with the procedure.
