NUVI 50LM Unable to Update

I receive the following error message when trying to update the Lower 49 States, Version 2015.40, File Size 1.85 GB.

“We’re unable to install updates. The latest version of these maps have so much new information that we’re not going to be able to fit it all on your device internal memory. Please contact Product Support for help with updating your maps.”

The internal memory says it is 100% full. I had a Micro SD 2 GB memory card, but still got the same message. Therefore, I purchased 8 GB Micro SD memory card and still receive the same message. The 8 GB memory card is formatted with FAT32. How can I update the device? Thank you.

You may be getting that message because your nuvi is completely full. I'd try deleting unnecessary voice, help and EULA files to free up space then try again.

A 2Gb card won't be large enough so you'll need the 8Gb one, but only insert it when prompted to do so by Express.

Thank you for the information. I deleted other langauge files I was not using and that allowed space for the update to proceed
with the 8 GB memory card.
