Install map locally on PC using express for edge touring not working

Using newest versions of express and basecamp. Inside express i am given the option of installing, locally, the map but the buttons are greyed out and the installation path option does not work. The location button does not work as well. I tried this with the device plugged in and out. Cant install the maps. Any suggestions?

Can i delete the old initial, non-updated, map that came with the unit? I have that map and the updated one on the SD card.

The map used with the Edge Touring is not compatible with installing to the computer. The map update will install to the microSD card only. Garmin BaseCamp will read the map from the SD card when the Edge is connected to the computer allowing you to transfer data between the two.

Why use the slower SD card transfer rate the move map data from the unit to the computer rather than letting us install owned maps locally on our 6 gbps sata 3 HDD?

Why make things slow intentionally? Drawing the maps using this method is incredibly slow and frankly a waste of time for most people. I refuse to use basecamp for anything due to the slow transfer rates. I suspected that the maps were being read directly from the SD card because of how slow the maps were being drawn.

Can you let us install maps that we have on our units onto our computers as well please. This is a feature request.
  • You can move the .img map file to a virtual drive on your hard drive and then Basecamp will read it from there. Having created the virtual drive create a folder named Garmin and put the map file there.
