Problem with new Lenovo

New Lenovo PC Win 8.1. Express won't install. Garmin support took control of my PC and tried a lot of stuff but could not solve it. All other programs I have installed on this PC work fine. No idea what is so special/complicated with express. Only solution is to install on another PC

What do I 'lose out ' with lack of Express, as I connect to GC via my android? (for example is it exactly the same excet for say SW updates and/or Map transfers?)

The issue with Garmin Express and Lenovo Yoga laptops was resolved in a recent release of Garmin Express. The issue was that Garmin Express installed but would open off screen so it would appear to be running but the user interface window would not be seen. You should be able to install the newest release of Garmin Express 4.0.24.0 with no problems on your Lenovo laptop. If you do still have problems, please contact Product Support by phone so we can gather the necessary information to have our developers look at it again.

Hi Expresscustomercare,

Thanks for early access to the newest release but 'Garmin device interaction service failed to start.' is still happening. I spent a good part of an hour with your support guys (I gave them direct access to my PC) and they were not able to fix it (though the attemps was for 4.0.23.0)

I would just like to know what I lose out not having express on my PC and only on my android (is it only lack of FW updates? Can I handle maps through android connection?)

I am sorry for the troubles. Garmin Connect Mobile on the Andriod phone will only send software updates to devices like the vivofit where the files required are small. You will eventually need Garmin Express installed on a computer to update the software on the epix and 620. You can try using the Garmin WebUpdater. It will be operational with these devices for sometime but eventually be phased out.

I don't mind going to another PC every once in a while for updating FW. (I am still new to the mapping features and I think those can be updated via USB direct transfer). So am I losing out on anything (except FW updates) by only using GCM (android?)

No, you should not require anything else except for connect mobile unless you want to perform some other action using your Epix.

I managed to Install older version of express and it works!

downloaded it here: v.3.2.30.0

it is such a frustration to have a $600 watch and not have express.

I really don't know/think I am losing any functionality by having an older version. I managed to update my FW no problem. Full access to connectIQ etc
