You could try a master reset to see if that resolves it https://support.garmin.com/support/searchSupport/case.faces?caseId=%7Ba1f85d30-a65f-11e4-4df3-000000000000%7D

Thank you for your reply. I did the master reset as shown, but it did not resolve my problem. Keeps going on and off and not recongnized by Garmin Express.

That is normally a hardware issue. The USB port provides power to the device which it uses to charge the battery and stay in Mass Storage mode. If the USB port is not providing enough power, or the USB cable is faulty then the device will repeatedly connect/disconnect. Make sure the USB cable is connected to a USB port on the back or side of the computer avoiding any external USB hubs, USB extensions, or Keyboard USB ports. Replace the USB Data Transfer cable or connect to another computer to try and duplicate the issue. If it happens on another computer then it could be the USB port on the device itself in which case it would need to be replaced. Contact Garmin Product Support by phone if you continue to have troubles.

Thank you for your help Curt.
I tried a different USB port on my computer, changed my USB cable, tried on my two computers and problem remains.
