Cannot log in to Garmin Connect because (my own!) user name already taken

My login name or user name was registered since over a year back as HugRunner, but after the horrible updates of Garmin Express, where it now has no manual sync button and keeps getting There was an error when syncing with Garmin Connect" message... EVERY TIME!, I'm apparently logged out or not connected through Garmin Express. Through WiFi it syncs just fine though, so apparently there is a connection... When I log in through Garmin Express it asks for a nickname or a display name... I choose my previously registered name of course, HugRunner, but then it says it's already taken!!!!!!! Yes, it's taken, by me. Why can't I use my own nickname?

I had to use Hug_Runner to log in to the forum and just to write this as well... Please fix your software, Garmin. It's suppose to get better when updates come, not worse!

I am sorry for the troubles. This was an issue with your Connect account rather than Express. Your username was HugRunner but you hadn't set a Display Name yet. You will want to remove your Forerunner 620 from Express and Connect completely, then log in to your Connect Modern Account and use the information in the FAQ How do I change my Display Name or Username in my Garmin account? to change your Display Name. Be sure to Log Out of your Connect account when done with the web browser or to double check any changes you make. Once the Display Name is changed add the 620 back to Express.

Hi, and thanks for the response. I followed the guide and it still says that the name is already taken when I try to change it on https://connect.garmin.com/modern/settings/userprofile .
