problems sending course to EDGE 800 via Garmin Express- fails to sync

Hi

I am unable to send a course to EDGE 800 using Garmin Express- it repeatedly fails to sync.
Oddly I can't upload from the EDGE to Garmin Connect via Express either- I have to do a manual file upload.

I'm using a Windows 7 PC with up to date software and most recent Garmin Express. I have tried deleting the device and re-installing it- but that doesn't work either.

I'd happily download the course manually, but I can't find it as a tcx or gpx file within Garmin Connect.

Can anyone help?
