Problem with Edge 1000

There is really a problem with Garmin Express and it is not at the user end. I have updated my Edge 1000 several times and after each update, Garmin Express is telling me that a "Map Update Available."
Yesterday I kept getting a message that "There was an error installing the update." I removed the Edge 1000 from my Garmin Connect account and added it back. This morning I was able to get the entire map update done for the 3rd or 4th time. Except that Garmin Express is not seeing that the update was successful.
Also yesterday, I was not able to Sync either my Edge 1000 or my Viofit to Garmin Connect. This morning both with sync, with some exceptions.
Data from my Tanita Scale is not updating at Garmin Connect. This issue has persisted since last Friday.

It is very easy to point to "operator error" as the source of all problems. It is about time that Garmin begins looking inside the firewall for the problems that persist with a variety of Garmin Products.

It sounds like the XML on the computer isn't being updated. You can go to the following location and delete the .xml files in the folder:
    C:\ProgramData\GARMIN\CoreService

Once that is done, add the device back to Express and see if it doesn't take care of you. If not, please contact support.

Hi, I had this problem today too, with my brand new Edge 1000. After reading the above, I was making a backup of the CoreService folder and noticed my computer's harddrive was nearly full (600mb remaining). After clearing out around ~16GB of old programs and files I no longer needed, I tried again just to see if it was being generated by the lack of storage space and bingo, no more 'error installing the update'.
Might be worth checking there's enough space for the update to complete successfully - it might just be due to running out of space before/during the download and installation!
