Garmin Express DOES NOT work with Forerunner 205

I've got a brand new computer that does not recognize the Forerunner 205. I can hear the computer recognizing the USB with a chime each time it is plugged in and unplugged.

I've uninstalled, reinstalled, removed and done everything absolutely possible to get this to work. It's frustrating because strava is linked to Garmin Express and since nothing has been uploaded, there is nothing to sync.

What gives? Just because I've got an older GPS, doesn't mean that it shouldn't work. I've got a 2002 truck; however, it still drives on the road.

Please help!

The Forerunner 205 is compatible with Garmin Express on Windows Vista and higher. Since the Forerunner 205 requires the Garmin USB drivers to be installed it sounds like you have an issue with the USB drivers. Please see the FAQ below for suggestions on trouble shooting already installed USB drivers.

How do I download the USB drivers for my Garmin Mode device?

The Forerunner 205 and cradle can also be the source of a communication issue. Make sure the cradle is connected to a 2.0 USB port on the back or side of the computer, avoid external USB hubs, USB extenders and keyboard USB ports. Clean the contacts on both the watch and cradle with a pencil eraser.

If you continue to have troubles please contact Garmin Product Support by phone.

I just tried; however, to no avail...still no worky.

While updating, I get an error message.

Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device.

Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it. Garmin USB GPS.

This device cannot start (Code 10)

If you know the manufacturer of your device, you can visit its website and check the support section for driver software.

    --------------------------

I've installed the latest USB update of 2.3.1.1, but it still doesn't get recognized in Garmin Express despite me plugging the USB directly into the back and having cleaned the contacts.

    Any other thoughts?

Code 10 can be driver or hardware related. Do you have another PC you can connect it to just to make sure it will communicate? You can install Garmin WebUpdater which will install the USB Drivers and use it to check for updates to the 205. If the WebUpdater can communicate with the device then you know for sure there is a driver issue on your computer. You'll need to contact Garmin Product Support by phone to resolve that.
