Fenix 3. Won't synch via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. The amount of time and effort spent troubleshooting this issue has far exceeded the benefit of the application. Based on a quick oveview of the forum it looks like this is not an uncommon problem.
I am sorry for the troubles. Please see the FAQ: What should I do if I am unable to sync my mass storage fitness device using Garmin Express? Let us know where in the process you are having trouble.
For almost a month now i have been unable to load any new courses onto my Garmin edge 1000, Garmin express comes up with a red message saying syncing error with Garmin Connect,
The same also happens when i use my IOS app to send a course to my edge device. On the app it comes up red saying syncing error
It is not just me with the message either, both of my friends with edge units are having this problem.
If the course being sent was created from a .gpx file imported into Connect then it will cause an error. The Connect Team is aware of this issue and it should be resolved in a future update. Creating the course manually or saving an activity uploaded from the Edge as a Course will transfer successfully. If a Course fails to load it should be deleted from the Sync menu on the left before another attempt is made. There are many variables and scenarios that exist with Garmin users and their environments. Any issues that cannot be resolved from our suggestions or FAQs should be addressed by Garmin Product Support via phone.
i emailed garmin customer services yesterday, and they replied the same day (Great work guys, you have have picked up the pace of your reply's, i am impressed, although it was a generic email, this i don't mind though as you need to rule out all scenarios)
This is what they said in summary... the email was longer and more detailed...
"Firstly, please ensure you are running the latest version of Garmin Express" - this i did, uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version
"Files that will not upload automatically should be manually deleted to prevent Garmin Express from trying to sync the file again in the future.
Activity files to be uploaded are stored in:
Windows Vista SP2 and higher:
- C:\ProgramData\Garmin\CoreService\Devices\Unit ID of device\Sync\FIT_TYPE_4
*If the ProgramData folder is not displayed:
Press the Windows + R key together
Type %ProgramData% in the box "
This i also did.... But still no luck..
i also followed the advice about the app, but still no luck..
These are the error messages i am getting.. - All activities upload to garmin after completetion, Live track works, but i cannot download any new courses that i create in Garmin connect.. Oh and also the Smartphone bluetooth function does not work for receiving text messages on my Iphone 5s, Worked great on my old I phone 5C, but not on the 5s.
i have replied to Garmin customer services and i will await to see if they have further instructions, but so far they are trying, so thank you for that.
I am sorry that you are having trouble syncing your courses. I renamed the course that is in your queue and was able to successfully sync it when it wouldn't sync before. I would try to avoid putting spaces in the names of the courses (along with any special characters). Sometimes they seem to be translated into illegal characters.
this isnt confined to any particular unit/model as I am using a 705 that has been a faithful and trusted friend. the unit still works A1, but out of the blue Express refuses to allow uploading of courses from Connect......
I have reinstalled the latest version of Express I have downgraded the firmware to 3.1 from 3.3 in an attempt to see if that was the issue.. it isnt I have reinstalled 3.3 on the unit...
Yes - I can 'cheat' and manually download from connect and drag/drop into the unit memory.... but that isnt why I ( and other users ) choose to use a Garmin.. it is supposed to be be easy and 'just work'.
If anyone has any ideas why courses are not loading - suggestions will be welcome.
