Cant sync - but my problem is downloading courses, etc. from Garmin.

I'm having a different sync problem I think than others are reporting here.

I can upload my new .fit files just fine. But I cant download any of the files that I want to send to my Edge 510.
I dont know where to look to find the log files to get more information, either.

This problem seems to be intermittent. One day it works, all day, then it will just error out for weeks on end.

Can someone help me understand:
a) how can I help you with better information?
b) is Garmin aware of this problem, and what is being done to resolve it.

I am sorry for the troubles. Please make sure Garmin Express is up to date. In Garmin Connect, Courses can only be sent one at a time. If you have multiple Course items in the Sync menu on the left, delete them then start over from the Course menu. If the Course was created from a .gpx file imported from a third party it is best to create the Course manually. Any corrupt GPS data in a third party .gpx file may cause the transfer to fail.

Garmin Express stores the files in C:\ProgramData\Garmin\CoreService\Devices\Unit ID for the device\Sync\Download\FIT_TYPE_6 before they are sent to the NewFiles folder on the Edge 510. When clearing out the Sync menu in Connect, also check this folder and delete any files. This folder is empty when a Course successfully syncs with the Edge so any files here should be deleted.

You should also check the NewFiles folder on the Edge. I believe it is a hidden folder so you'll have to Show Hidden Files in Windows. The Edge will process any files in the NewFiles folder upon start up so any files that remain here after the Edge starts up should be deleted.

The objective is to clear out any file containing corrupt data.

  • I tried all of that.
    None of it worked.
I wish i could attach an error log - which I was able to find - to this, so you could try to help me. Itried to use the file uploader in the forums, but it doesn't work.

The error that I see over and over again is:
Perhaps this helps you debug this problem...

System.Net.Http.HttpRequestException: Response status code does not indicate success: 500 (Internal Server Error).

  • After a little more perseverance, I have cleared out many things in my queue, and damn if it didn't work.
