Choice of map updates to device and/or basecamp ?

Can someone clarify something for me please ?

Before I updated Garmin Express to the latest version I am sure there were three choices of installing map updates:

1, To Device only
2, To Computer (ie Basecamp and Mapsource)
3, To Both device and computer at the same time

It would now seem however this has changed to only:

1, To Device only
2, To Computer including installing Mapsource

Does anyone know why the choice of "To both at the same" time has disappeared ?

    I'm not getting 2 in either of your options as you quote it, mentions Basecamp not Mapsource?

    Assuming you meant Basecamp the options vary depending on what has happened so far. If you have never downloaded the map you get the 3 options you remember. If you're offered a 'reinstall' then you only get the 2 options.

    Yes I miss typed, (Been a busy weekend, what with the time zone file issue)

    After update list item 2 should have read "To Computer including installing Basecamp"


    Thanks for the clarification of how it works and offers choices.

    If you have already completed the map update on a device that accepts the full preloaded version whether it be Lower 48, U.S. and Canada, or Full Coverage of North America then the install to computer options are removed. BaseCamp will read the maps from the device when it is connected to the computer. The option to install the maps for use with BaseCamp is available to devices that have insufficient space to hold the full version of the preloaded map.

    Curt,

    Are you sure on that? I believe it's as I posted. The behaviour of Express was changed a while back so that users could install the maps for use in Basecamp rather than have the device plugged into their PC.

    I've just checked on my 2508 that has the full EU map and I'm getting the option under Map options to download the map to my PC for use by Basecamp :confused:
