Garmin express not supporting my Nüvifone A50 So much for lifetime maps

I recently downloaded the latest version of Garmin express only to fined out that my fone is not supported anymore. Obviously garmin want to sweep this under the rug as I noticed that a similar thread has been closed.

I did download http://download.garmin.com/lmu/GarminMapUpdater.exe and it looks like it works when setting the phone to file transfer after connecting.

The thing is I bought this fone new from Optus and I do expect lifetime map updates. So, as long as the map updater works I will be happy as all I really use this fone for is as a digital speedo and the occasional map on my maxi scooter. Newer types of GPS devices just don't match the versatility, connectivity and size of the A50. Too bad that Android can't be updated either......

Still downloading the map update.... If it doesn't work stay tuned for an official complaint and then one to the ACCC........
  • Well complaining won't really help you. Garmin MapUpdater is still available simply because older devices like your A50 aren't capable of working with Express. Garmin in fact have a good track record of supporting older devices.

Not sure (as you don't say) what map you're updating but map downloads can take a few hours to complete. Should yours not then post back with some more information so the appropriate help can be given.
  • Why not downgrade your express to 3.2.29. Many people have solved their issues by doing that.
