Forced to update Garmin Express even though Update Schedule set to NEVER

Title pretty much says it all. I have the update schedule set to NEVER but whenever there is a new GE release, I get a pop-up indicating that there is a new version and the only option is "OK" which installs the update.

How can I prevent Garmin Express from updating?

Suspect that it's deliberate - although Garmin won't admit it, the previous versions have been defective (a quick glance through this forum will demonstrate that) and this is their way of forcing people to change to a version that they hope will work. I'll say it quietly, but after having real sync issues the latest version does seem to work for me. I'd still prefer them to bring back the sync button and it doesn't seem to auto-load any more when I plug in the ANT+ stick but I can at least get to my activities now without having to resort to a third-party application.

My feeling is that the issue is that the software works on certain configurations but not others. As Garmin won't even admit that there is a problem, it's really difficult to track down what GE will and won't work with. If we could identify that, we might stand a chance of working out whether there is a fix at the user end or whether it's something Garmin could do. Either way, I would support being able to stick with an old version if it works.

I set my firewall that any Garmin product has to ask me to do anything.

With out using Garmin Express and it is off I get a popup from my firewall that Garmin Express wanting to access the internet.

Each time I block it and the next time I have my Laptop on it pops up again.

Each time it is a different Tempxxxx.exe file.

They have some type of malware built into it.
When I find out what is triggering it I will post it here.

Garmin has no right to bypass any settings you pick in Garmin Express.

You do not want to update and you have that right to un-tick that option and Garmin can not go around it and force you to take the update.

Then next time it pops up I will post a screen shot of it.
