I cannot get the GE window to open. Win 8.1. The icon is in the task bar, but when I right click on it and try to open it or maximize it, nothing happens. I uninstalled and reinstalled, same problem. Rebooted. Same problem. No error messages.
The issue is that GE is actually open but the window is being displayed off your monitor. In my case it was off to the left in nowhere land. Since you cannot grab the window with your mouse, you can move it using your keyboard.
Mouse over the taskbar icon then click on it so GE now has focus
Hold down Alt, tap the space bar, press the "M" key. You should now see the "cross cursor"
Press arrow keys right or left until you see the GE window on your monitor, then press enter
The next time you open GE it will be where you left it
