Unable to install Garmin Express - "User cancelled installation."

Whenever I try to install Garmin Express client, I get an error message saying "User cancelled instalation." followed by "Failed, try again" button.

I have tried installing it with firewall and antivirus disabled, I made a new user account in case some profile files got corrupted and nothing worked so far.

I tried looking for other people having a similar issue, but I didn't find any.




I would really like to get this client to work so I can fully benefit from my Garmin Forerunner 110.

    Thank you for the screenshots and sorry about the trouble you are having. When you are attempting to install Express are you saving the file to the computer or running it from the website? Try both ways if you haven't already to see if that makes a difference.

    Check to see if there are any pending Windows or software updates that may be preventing Express from installing.

    I would also clear out the Express related files from this location: "C:\ProgramData\Package Cache" before attempting to reinstall.

    If you are still unsuccessful after this, I would recommend contacting product support for additional help.

    I have tried all your suggested actions, but with no success.

    Regarding clearing out the Express related files from this location: "C:\ProgramData\Package Cache", I don't know which ones of the folders that might be. My guess it's not any of them since the most recent one was modified almost 3 weeks ago.

    There is no product support for Romania, but I have opened a ticket with my problem.


    So far, I think I ran out of ideas.. I look forward to getting more suggestions if there are any.

    I did find a workaround.

    I have installed Garmin Comunicator Plugin (http://software.garmin.com/en-US/gcp.html#compatibility) and I am uploading the data via browser. I guess it does its job in the end...

    Based on the logs that you sent in, there seems to be some sort of permissions issue on the computer or user profile and the Garmin Express application is unable to get admin rights. I would first start by clearing your %temp% directory as this is where the installer is unpacked:
    • Press the Windows key + R
    • Type %temp%
    • Press OK
    • Press Ctrl + A
    • Press the delete key and confirm that you would like to delete all files
    • Skip any files that are currently in use if prompted


    You can also try running the Garmin Express installer as an administrator by right-clicking the download and choosing Run as Administrator.

    If these steps do not solve the problem, you can also try creating a new user profile in Windows and try installing the application from there.
