Garmin Express - "There was an error syncing with Garmin Connect."

Hi All,

I am looking for some help with the below issue:

I am able to sync my Garmin Edge 800 & 810 with my Garmin connect account, I.E it is sync my recent activities, but it will not allow me to push new courses created and throw up the error within Garmin express ""There was an error syncing with Garmin Connect." even-though the last sync time with my device is being updated within the software.

All of my software is up to date in regards to device firmware and Garmin Express.

I have two devices, a edge 800 & 810 that both experience these issues, I have also tried using a different computer, using a different network to perform the send to device action.

Please see attached image of error message.

  • Uninstalled all Garmin software. Did a fresh install of GE. Nothing. It's happy to keep pushing updates to my devices that are all up to date.
    The MOST annoying thing is that I was off the bike six week due to a serious accident. My garmin was returned from the police and I had an officer standing behind me waiting for me to upload to GC using the "new" and "updated" GE (The old one worked perfectly before my accident so I was unaware of a change.

    Anyway a manual update for the activity but GE won't send any activities.

    Gone to Strava... Which has no problems automatically syncing with the plug in.

    Sort it out and I might come back.

    I have finally solved the syncing issue. It actually started after getting an update for GE. I tried everything in my pc, re-installing, nothing. Then I shifted my attention to my 910XT. Deleted all activities, still nothing, but after doing a hard reset, viola, it was syncing already.

    I get the original whinge - "There was an error syncing with Garmin Connect."

    I am sorry for the troubles. Currently there is an issue with Connect Sending Courses to the Edge 305/605/705 devices. The Connect Team has been notified and are investigating the issue.

    For my 705, an earlier download (2 weeks ago) worked OK, but had no elevation data with it. A separate issue, I suppose.

    Same problem here with my new edge 810,doesn't sync and can't download route's from connect :mad: .
    Strava and routeyou no problems :confused:

    The Course issue referred to by other users in this thread does not affect the 810 unless the Course was created from a .gpx file you imported into Connect. Creating the Course manually will correct that issue.

    As far as Syncing, remove everything from the Sync menu on the left in Connect then go through the FAQ: What can I do if my fitness mass storage device is not being recognized by the computer?

    Any ETA for syncing map on 705?, we need our map!! com'on what have you guys broke again.

    The issue seems to span all units/models...
    I am using ( trying to use ) my 705 but have similar issues - I can upload activities direct to Connect, but cannot 'Send to Device' ... nothing .. nadda.. I just get the 'failed to send' or ' try sending later' VERY helpful messages.
    I was honestly looking to splash out on the 1000... but I am very seriously thinking a Mio505 might be 'safer'
    Come on Garmin...
